Pedestrian struck in Quik Trip parking lot sues

A man has filed suit against the driver who he claims struck him as he attempted to walk across a parking lot.

Adam Bauer claims he was walking on the grounds of Quik Trip in Granite City on Sept. 14, 2011, when either Mark Jung or someone who was driving his vehicle, struck Bauer.

Because of the incident, Bauer suffered disability and disfigurement, endured great pain and mental anguish and lost earnings, according to the complaint filed Jan. 28 in Madison County Circuit Court. Bauer also incurred medical costs, the suit states.

Bauer blames Jung or the person driving his vehicle for contributing to his injuries, saying the driver negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, drove in such a manner as to strike Bauer’s vehicle, failed to properly apply his brakes and failed to stop before striking Bauer.

In his complaint, Bauer is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.

Gregory M. Tobin of East Alton will be representing him.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 13-L-138.
