Trial date set in case over injuries at haunted house

Madison County Chief Judge Ann Callis on Jan. 30 set a trial date in a girl’s lawsuit over injuries she allegedly sustained from a tour at an Alton haunted house.

Callis also set deadlines for attorneys to complete discovery and depositions.

Callis on Jan. 18 dismissed the City of Alton and co-defendant Steven Haug from the lawsuit.

The girl’s father, Terry Ganz, claimed his daughter was injured after she was chased by a worker wielding a fake chainsaw on Oct. 29, 2011.

Ganz’s lawsuit was filed last October in Madison County. It also named American Legion Post 126 and Dennis Sharp as defendants.

J. Robert Edmonds of Alton represents the plaintiff.

James Craney and Charles Anderson of Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith represent American Legion.

Michael Murlphy of Freeark, Harvey & Mendillo in Belleville represents Dennis Sharp.

Madison County case number 12-L-1756.
