A former railroad worker says he was left with several injuries after more than two decades on the job.
Rayfield Van III filed a lawsuit Jan. 14 in Madison County Circuit Court against Terminal Railroad Association of St. Louis.
Van says he worked for Terminal Railroad as a trackman/machine operator beginning in 1979 and ending in 2012. He claims he was subjected to numerous repetitive injuries during his years of repairing railroad tracks.
Van accuses the railroad company of negligence for allegedly failing to provide a safe working environment and proper protective equipment. He contends Terminal Railroad is subject to the Federal Employers' Liability Act and asks for more than $50,000 in damages for medical expenses, loss of income and court fees.
Attorney Gregory M. Tobin of East Alton represents Van.
