Free legal clinic on rental housing rights offered Jan. 17; Program targets citizens returning from corrections

The Third Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Committee, the Land of Lincoln Legal Assistance Foundation and the Community Support Advisory Council (CSAC) of Metro East from Lutheran Social Services of Illinois are sponsoring “Know Your Rental Housing Rights,” a free legal information clinic, at 3:30 p.m., Jan. 17 at the Alton Salvation Army located at 525 Alby Street.

Attorney Clarissa Gaff from the Land of Lincoln Legal Assistance Foundation will lead the presentation that will cover general rights for landlords and tenants. The clinic will also provide information about anticipated new building housing admission policies for citizens returning from correctional facilities.

This is the first program the Third Judicial Circuit Pro Bono Committee and Land of Lincoln is offering with the CSAC targeting “returning citizens” who need information about their rights.

CSAC's mission is to establish connections for returning citizens with community providers, including faith-based organizations, vendors, and other community agencies that provide a variety of comprehensive services and resources. These services and resources allow CSAC to reduce recidivism and create community safety.
