Alorton Pilot sued by woman who claims customer hit her head with blunt object

A woman has filed suit against the convenience store where she claims she was attacked by a fellow patron.

Robin Morgan claims she was visiting Pilot Travel Centers at 140 Racehorse Dr. in Alorton on March 8 when one of its customers hit her head with a blunt object.

Because of the attack, Morgan suffered bruises, lacerations and injuries to her face and head; incurred medical costs; and experienced pain and discomfort, according to the complaint filed Dec. 14 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

Pilot negligently allowed an individual to remain on its premises even though it knew of the potential risk of harm to clients, failed to maintain adequate security and failed to provide adequate lighting, the suit states.

In her complaint, Morgan is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.

She will be represented by Keith Short of the Law Office of Keith Short in Wood River.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 12-L-664.
