A Fairview Heights restaurant is being sued after a customer allegedly tripped over a floor mat.

Margaret Ames filed a lawsuit Nov. 29 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Lotawata Creek Southern Grill.

According to the complaint, Ames was a customer of Lotawata Creek Southern Grill in the 300 block of Salem Place in February 2011. As she entered the restaurant's foyer, Ames claims she fell over the mats on the floor, hurting her knee and back.

Ames accuses Lotawata Creek of negligence and asks for more than $50,000 in damages for medical expenses and court costs.

She is represented by attorney Andrew G. Toennies of St. Louis.
