Bi-State sued over man's attack on Metro

Bone

An East St. Louis man claims Bi-State Development Agency failed to provide him with adequate security while he was using the company's metro, causing him to be attacked.

James E. Mosley filed a lawsuit Aug. 29 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Bi-State Development Agency.

In his complaint, Mosley alleges he was riding on the metro on July 4 when he was assaulted as he attempted to exit the train.

Because of the attack, Mosley sustained external and internal injuries, suffered great physical pain and mental anguish and incurred medical costs, according to the complaint.

Mosley blames Bi-State for causing his injuries, saying it negligently failed to warn of the dangerous conditions, failed to provide adequate security and failed to provide proper equipment to its security force.

In his complaint, Mosley seeks a judgment of more than $50,000.

David H. Bone of Kassly, Bone and English in Belleville will be representing him.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 12-L-449.
