A Bethalto construction company is being sued for allegedly hurting an employee of an East Alton ammunition company.
David Wilson filed the lawsuit June 25 in Madison County Circuit Court against W.W.C.S. Inc.
According to the complaint, employees of W.W.C.S. were resurfacing a parking lot outside the Olin Corporation in July 2010. Wilson, who worked in the ballistics department at Olin, claims the walkways near the construction area were littered with equipment and tools making them unsafe to use. However, Wilson contends there were no warning signs or barricades to prevent anyone from using the walkways.
Wilson says when he tried to walk through the area, he fell over construction equipment and fell. He says he received serious injuries to his neck, back and shoulder.
W.W.C.S. is accused of negligence for failing to keep the area around its construction site clear of equipment and tool. Wilson seeks more than $50,000 in damages for medical expenses, loss of income and court costs.
He is represented by attorney Robert P. Marcus of O'Fallon. They ask for a jury trial.
