An O'Fallon woman has filed suit against Memorial Care Center, alleging she suffered a fractured pelvis, a broken rib and injuries to her back when she fell at the facility.
Doris Elkins alleges she was living at Protestant Memorial Medical Center, doing business as Memorial Care Center, when she fell at a period of time when employees were failing to monitor her.
Following Elkins's tumble, Memorial Care Center employees failed to transfer her to a medical center to treat her multiple injuries, according to the complaint filed Sept. 19 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.
In addition to her injuries, Elkins incurred medical costs, suffered disability and experienced pain and suffering, the suit states.
She blames Memorial Care Center for causing her fall, saying it neglected her.
In her complaint, Elkins is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.
She will be represented by James R. Williams of Williams, Caponi and Foley in Belleville.
