A Madison County woman is suing a Maryville bank after she allegedly slipped on algae growing in the parking lot.
Juanita Huddleston filed a lawsuit Sept. 12 in Madison County Circuit Court against Home Federal Savings and Loan.
According to the lawsuit, Home Federal had been discharging water into its North Center Street parking lot. The collection of water allegedly allowed algae to grow where customers would be walking. Huddleston says on June 28 she walked from the parking lot to the bank's entrance and slipped on the slimy surface, hitting her head on the asphalt.
Huddleston accuses Home Federal Savings and Loan of negligence for failing to remove the algae or warn customers of its existence. She is asking for more than $50,000 in damages to compensate for medical bills and court costs.
Attorney John H. Leskera of Collinsville is representing Huddleston.
