Son sues over father's fatal car accident

Meyer

The son of a Madison County man killed in a car crash says his death is the fault of the driver of the car he was riding in.

Timothy Stanton, on behalf of decedent Ronald Stanton, filed a lawsuit against Wanda R. Stanton Sept. 16 in Madison County Circuit Court.

According to the complaint, Ronald Stanton was a passenger in a car begin driven by Wanda Stanton in September 2010. Stanton says his father's car was driving west on Illinois Route 111. At the intersection of Lakin Boulevard in Wood River, Wanda Stanton allegedly tried to turn left, crossed in front of an oncoming car and crashed into the other vehicle.

The crash allegedly caused injuries to Ronald Stanton that eventually led to his death. The lawsuit does not mention if -- or how -- the plaintiff and defendant are related.

Timothy Stanton accuses the defendant of negligence and wrongful death and asks for an unspecified amount of money in damages along with court costs. He is represented by attorneys S. Russell Meyer and Amy M. Meyer of Alton.
