Mother and daughter claim injuries in Route 143 accident

A Madison County mother and her daughter claim they were hurt when the car they were in was rear-ended on a state highway.

Lisa Ann Edwards and her minor daughter filed a lawsuit against Amanda S. Cooperider Sept. 6 in Madison County Circuit Court.

According to the petition, Edwards was driving west on Illinois Highway 143 with her daughter in the passenger seat in October 2009. As they slowed down behind a line of traffic, Jones says Cooperider crashed into the back of her vehicle.

The Joneses accuse Cooperider of negligence for failing to avoid the crash. They are asking for more than $100,000 in damages to compensate for medical bills and court costs.

The mother and daughter are represented by attorney Thomas O. Falb of the Williamson, Webster, Falb & Glisson law firm in Alton..
