Argosy sued over woman's restroom injuries

A woman claims she fell on a pool of water in a bathroom at an Alton casino.

Debra K. Cobb filed a lawsuit Sept. 12 in Madison County Circuit Court against Alton Gaming Company doing business as Argosy Casino Alton.

In her complaint, Cobb claims she was a customer at Argosy Casino when she fell in a pool of water in the women's restroom.

Because of her fall, Cobb sustained severe and permanent injuries, was hindered and prevented from attending to her usual duties and lost the value of her time, according to the complaint. In addition, Cobb experienced great pain and anguish, incurred medical costs, lost income and sustained disability, the suit states.

Cobb blames Alton for causing her fall, saying it negligently improperly operated the premises, allowed a pool of water to exist on the floor, failed to properly erect barriers around the water, failed to reasonably inspect the bathroom and failed to warn of the water in the restroom.

In her complaint, Cobb seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.

Gregory Tobin of Pratt and Tobin in East Alton will be representing her.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 11-L-913.
