I-55 accident blamed on Schlumberger Technology driver

Smith

A woman has filed suit against the driver who she claims struck her vehicle while she was operating it on Interstate 55.

Deborah Higgins claims she was driving west on Interstate 55/64/70 in East St. Louis on Sept. 3, 2009, when defendant Richard Larmour, who was driving a vehicle for defendant Schlumberger Technology in the same direction, struck her vehicle.

Because of the collision, Higgins sustained injuries to her neck, back and hips and experienced pain and suffering, according to the complaint filed Sept. 6 in St. Clair County Circuit Court. In addition, she sustained disability, incurred medical costs and lost wages, the suit states.

Larmour negligently failed to reduce his speed to avoid a collision, drove too fast and failed to keep a proper lookout, the complaint says.

In her two-count complaint, Higgins is seeking a judgment of more than $100,000, plus costs.

Keith Short and Noel Smith Jr. of Short and Smith in Wood River will be representing her.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 11-L-496.
