A man claims he sustained injuries to his ribs after a driver failed to yield the right-of-way at a red light.
Ricky J. Faccin, Madison County Auditor, filed a lawsuit Sept. 6 in Madison County Circuit Court against Rebecca A. Hughes.
Faccin claims he attempted to make a left-hand turn from Pierce Lane onto W. Delmar Avenue in Godfrey on Aug. 16, 2010, when Hughes disobeyed a red light and struck his vehicle.
In addition to his injuries, Faccin was hindered and prevented from attending to his normal duties and incurred medical costs because of the collision, according to the complaint.
He blames Hughes for causing the collision, saying she negligently ran a red light, failed to reduce her speed to avoid a collision and failed to keep her vehicle under control, the suit states.
In his two-count complaint, Faccin seeks a judgment of more than $100,000, plus costs.
Bob L. Perica of The Perica Law Firm in Wood River will be representing him.
