Route 161 crash is subject of suit

A driver is asking to be paid more than $50,000 by the woman who allegedly crashed into him on a Swansea roadway.

Ronald W. Miller filed the lawsuit against Ashley N. Duffie Aug. 19 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

According to the complaint, the crash happened Nov. 22, 2010 on Illinois Route 161 in Swansea. Miller says he was driving east on Route 161 near the intersection of Timber Ridge West. He says Duffie was also driving east and crashed into him.

Miller contends Duffie was negligent for allegedly driving too fast, failing to keep a proper lookout and failing to keep the vehicle she was driving under control and failing to have or properly use a horn to warn of the impending crash.

Miller says the force of the crash caused him to be "tossed with force and violence within his vehicle." The impact allegedly caused injuries that he says have caused him a great deal of pain. Miller says he has paid medical expenses and lost income as a result.

Miller is asking Duffie be ordered to pay more than $50,000 in damages. He is represented by Attorney Chris Kolker, of Belleville.
