3rd Judicial Circuit's Park to Park for Peace walk set Sept. 10

The Third Judicial Circuit Family Violence Prevention Council is coordinating the 8th annual Walk Against Violence in Alton on Saturday, Sept. 10, beginning at 11 a.m.

Participants will assemble at Hellrung Park at the entrance on Central Avenue at East 7th Street, then walk a short distance to Haskell Park.

Alton Mayor Tom Hoechst and Police Chief David Hayes will lead the walkers. At Haskell Park, one of the Third Judicial Circuit judges will greet walkers as they arrive. A free picnic lunch with music, balloons, and crafts for children follows the walk.

There will also be a free limited edition T-shirt for all who attend (while supplies last), designed especially for the occasion by local artist, John Webster. Resources and materials on safety and violence-free relationships will also be available.

Everyone is welcome, including friendly, leashed dogs.
