Beyers
Madison County Assistant State's Attorney Ben Beyers has been selected to serve as an associate judge in the Third Judicial Circuit.
Beyers will fill a vacancy created by outgoing Associate Judge Ellar Duff, who was not re-appointed by the court's nine circuit judges. Her term expired June 30.
Beyers earned his law degree from the University of Illinois in 1999. He has been an assistant state's attorney for since 2001.
He was an associate attorney with the firm of Bilbrey and Hylla, P.C. from 2001-2006. He was an attorney for State Farm Insurance in Indianapolis from 2000–2001.
Beyers is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and the Madison County Bar Association, past member of the Indiana State Bar Association and the American Trial Lawyers Association.
He is a member of 100 Black Men of Alton where he serves as chairman and was recipient of the Man of the Year Award in 2009. He is a member of the Edwardsville NAACP Executive Committee, a member of the Lewis and Clark Council Boy Scouts of America–Executive Board, a YMCA youth basketball coach, and a trustee of the Glen Carbon Centennial Library.
Beyers has been married to his wife Camee for five years and they have one daughter, Jacqueline.
