Marketer sues Wal-Mart over injuries sustained in moving merchandise

A St. Louis County woman says she hurt her back while stocking merchandise at a Cahokia Wal-Mart.

Brandy Morgan filed a lawsuit July 5 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Wal-Mart Stores Inc.

Morgan says she works for a sales and marketing company with duties that include stocking and displaying merchandise at various stores. In October 2009, Morgan says she was stocking merchandise at the Camp Jackson Road Wal-Mart and had to retrieve the product from the stock room.

Morgan says the store's merchandise was not made easily accessible. She contends there was no other staff made available to help her move the products. Forced to work alone, Morgan says she hurt her back trying to move the merchandise from the stock room.

Morgan accuses Wal-Mart of negligence and seeks more than $50,000 in damages for injuries, lost wages and court fees. She is represented by attorney Rhonda D. Fiss of Belleville. They ask for a jury trial.

St. Clair County Circuit Court Case No. 11-L-347.
