Long John Silver's customer claims light pole fell on car

A Granite City man incurred head and neck injuries after a light pole in a Long John Silver's parking lot fell on his car, according to recently filed court documents.

David Sheridan filed a lawsuit Feb. 7 in Madison County Circuit Court against GM Crossroads Center and Treasure Isles doing business as Long John Silver's.

Sheridan claims the incident occurred after he parked in the Long John Silver's parking lot at GM Crossroads Center located at 3717 Nameoki Rd. in Granite City on March 25.

In addition to his injuries, Sheridan suffered great pain and mental anguish and lost a normal life, according to the complaint. He also suffered permanent disability, lost wages and incurred medical costs, the suit states.

Sheridan blames the defendants for causing the incident, saying they failed to inspect the light pole, failed to maintain the light pole and failed to warn of hazards associated with the defective light pole.

In his two-count complaint, Sheridan is seeking a judgment of more than $100,000, plus costs.

Matthew R. Chapman of Becker, Schroader and Chapman in Granite City will be representing him.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 11-L-117.
