Construction workers claim they were injured in back of truck

Two St. Clair County construction workers are asking for more than $200,000 after they were allegedly hurt while riding in the back of a work truck.

Edward Kimme and Dennis Knutt filed a lawsuit Jan.19 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Danny Shannon and his employer, Highway Technologies Inc.

Kimme and Knutt say they were riding in the back of a construction truck driven by Shannon in May 2010. They claim Shannon pulled in front of another vehicle while driving on I-255 near the junction with I-64 and was rear-ended.

Both Kimme and Knutt claim they were not provided any safety equipment to protect them while riding in the back of the truck.

The two passengers accuse Shannon and Highway Technologies of negligence and are asking for at least $200,000 in damages to cover medical expenses and court costs.

Attorney Gregory L. Shevlin of Belleville is representing Kimme and Knutt.
