Injuries claimed in Old Collinsville Road accident

A man has filed suit against the driver who he claims rear-ended his vehicle.

Levi Lancaster claims he was driving west on Frank Scott Parkway near its intersection with Old Collinsville Road in Swansea on Jan. 22, 2009, when defendant Dominic Messina, who was also driving in the same direction, collided with Lancaster.

Because of the collision, Lancaster suffered severe and permanent injuries, was hindered from attending to his usual duties and affairs and suffered great pain and anguish, according to the complaint filed Jan. 18 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

Messina negligently failed to stop to avoid a collision, drove without keeping sufficient control, drove too fast, failed to keep an adequate lookout to the side, drove without adequate brakes and failed to stop or yield at the right-of-way, the suit states.

In his complaint, Lancaster is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.

Kenneth B. Beljanski of Brown and Brown in Fairview Heights will be representing him.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 11-L-26.
