Centrue Bank seeks repayment on promissory note

An Illinois bank is demanding repayment of more than $550,000 from an individual who it claims failed to use a promissory note in a consumer transaction.

Centrue Bank claims it owns a promissory note for $550,000 dated Aug. 5, 2009.

The note, issued to defendant Engelbert B. Schonlau, was not used in a consumer transaction, according to the complaint filed Jan. 21 in Madison County Circuit Court.

Now, Centrue Bank is demanding repayment of the note, plus interest, late fees and attorneys' fees for a total of $561,701.35, the suit states.

Wendi Alper-Pressman and Pierre Laclede Center of Lathrop and Gage in Clayton will be representing it.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 11-L-66.
