Casey's employee claims wrongful termination

A Wood River woman accuses her former employer of wrongful termination.

Tina Sherer filed a lawsuit against Casey's General Stores Inc. Dec. 29 in Madison County Circuit Court.

According to Sherer, she was working as an assistant manager at Casey's General Store until May 2010. She says she was fired unexpectedly for not unloading a shipment of inventory.

Sherer says the night the shipment came in, the store was short-staffed and she was very busy. She says the company would not allow overtime, so she was forced to leave the shipment.

Sherer says she was fired from Casey's General Store without being given the opportunity to explain why she could not unload the inventory.

Sherer is asking for more than $100,000 for wrongful termination and emotional distress. She is represented by attorney Greg Roosevelt, of Edwardsville.
