Woman seeks $50K in vehicle collision

A woman was severely injured when her car was stuck near a Marine Township intersection.

Carol A. Wade filed a lawsuit on Oct. 27 in Madison County Circuit Court against Robert A. Sharpe.

Wade claims she was driving her 2004 Dodge north on Illinois Rout 4 near the intersection of Hunter School Road in Marine on Oct. 31, 2008. She says her vehicle was struck by a 2005 Nissan driven south on Route 4 by Sharpe.

Wade says Sharpe was negligent in failing to reduce his speed, and driving at a rate greater than conditions warranted. She adds, in her complaint, that Sharpe failed to brake in time to avoid a collision, did not keep proper lookout and turned improperly.

Wade says she suffered extensive injuries, including a fracture to her right radius and ulna.

She claims expenses for medical care, lost wages and loss of future earning capacity. She also claims pain and suffering, disability and disfigurement.

In his complaint, Wade seeks damages of more than $50,000 plus further damages the Court deems appropriate.

Robert D. Caffey of LakinChapman is representing him.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-1101.
