A woman has filed suit against the driver who she claims struck the front end of her vehicle as she attempted to pass it.
Mary Orr claims she was riding in a vehicle traveling north on Goose Lake Road about three-tenths of a mile east of Sauget Industrial Parkway in Sauget on Oct. 10, 2009, at about 12:40 a.m. when Bianca Gaston attempted to pass the vehicle, but struck it instead.
Because of the accident, Orr became sick, sore, lame, disordered and disabled and suffered injuries to her head, neck, back, face and neck, according to the complaint filed Sept. 13 in St. Clair County Circuit Court. In addition, Orr suffered from cracked ribs, a broken foot and missing teeth; incurred medical costs; experienced a disability, pain and suffering; and lost wages and her earning capacity, the suit states.
Gaston negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, drove in such a manner so as to cause her vehicle to strike Orr's, drove while under the influence of intoxicating liquors, drove too fast, failed to reduce her speed and failed to pass with a clearly visible sign of traffic from the opposite direction, the complaint says. In addition, she drove without adequate brakes, Orr claims.
In her complaint, Orr seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.
John H. Hustava of Collinsville will be representing her.
