A woman claims a driver struck the rear of her vehicle as she drove on the interstate.
Sarah Towle filed a lawsuit June 17 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against James Raybourn.
Towle claims she drove a GMC vehicle west on Interstate 55/70 in East St. Louis near exit 2A on Aug. 28, 2008, at about 7:49 a.m. when Raybourn, who drove a Mazda in the same direction, rear-ended the GMC.
Because of the collision, Towle was temporarily and permanently injured, suffered great pain and suffering and incurred medical costs, according to the complaint.
Towle blames Raybourn for causing the collision, saying he negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, followed her vehicle too closely, failed to apply his brakes to avoid the collision, drove too fast, failed to reduce his speed to avoid a collision, failed to keep the vehicle under proper control, drove without adequate brakes and failed to have all the brakes in working order.
In her complaint, Towle seeks an unspecified judgment, plus costs.
Sam C. Mitchell and Associates will be representing her.
