Construction company claims contractor failed to pay for labor

A construction company has filed suit against another construction group, alleging it failed to pay for work provided.

Maxim Construction claims it agreed to provide labor for defendant 2M Construction Group in return for pay pursuant to a joint check agreement signed May 18, 2009.

According to its complaint filed May 12 in St. Clair County Circuit Court, Maxim provided the agreed-upon labor to 2M from June 18 through Oct. 12, but 2M has failed to pay it $55,553.75.

In addition to the money it says it is owed, Maxim Construction is seeking pre-judgment interest at the maximum rate allowed by law, post-judgment interest at the maximum rate allowed by law, costs and other relief the court deems just.

It will be represented by Roger W. Pecha and Sarah J. Swoboda of Jenkins and Kling in St. Louis.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-238.
