Woman claims she was wrongly accused of vandalizing hospital

A woman has filed suit against her former employer, claiming she was wrongly accused of vandalizing a hospital.

Brittany Forshee claims she worked as a patient registration clerk for defendant Southern Illinois Healthcare Foundation on Feb. 19 when she learned she would be transferred to the position of patient accounts representative at Kenneth Hall Hospital, a part of the same healthcare network as Southern Illinois Healthcare Foundation.

On March 8, Forshee officially transferred to Kenneth Hall Hospital, according to the complaint filed May 11 in St. Clair County Circuit Court. She claims everything was coming along fine until March 23 when a representative of the human resources department met with Kenneth Hall Hospital Director Elizabeth Zurleine to say that Forshee had vandalized Southern Illinois Healthcare Foundation's property, the suit states.

Forshee insists the statement is false and that her reputation has been damaged because of it.

In her two-count suit, Forshee seeks a judgment of more than $100,000, plus costs.

Van-Lear P. Eckert of Williams, Caponi, Foley and Eckert in Belleville will be representing her.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-236.
