An O'Fallon woman has filed suit against the contractor who she claims negligently constructed a step off a deck, causing her to fall.
Rosemary Furfaro claims she hired defendant Chris Hurst doing business as Hurst Contracting to build a deck and steps on her property.
Hurst, however, negligently constructed a step off the deck, causing Furfaro to fall on Oct. 2, 2008, according to the complaint filed May 3 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.
Because of the fall, Furfaro injured her leg, arm and back, incurred substantial costs and suffered permanent injuries, the suit states.
In her complaint, Furfaro is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.
James P. Stiehl of Swansea will be representing her.
St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-218.
