A man claims he suffered pain and permanent injury after a driver failed to stop at a red light and struck him.
Maurice Dotson filed a lawsuit April 28 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Ebony Rives.
Dotson claims he drove east on Martin Luther King Drive near its intersection with Ninth Street in East St. Louis on April 8 and attempted to pass through a green light when Rives, who drove south on Ninth Street, struck him.
Because of the collision, Dotson sustained injuries to various parts of his body, experienced pain and permanent disability, incurred medical costs and lost wages, according to the complaint.
Dotson blames Rives for causing the collision, saying she negligently failed to stop for a red traffic signal, drove too fast, failed to keep a proper lookout ahead and failed to stop or slow down to avoid a collision.
In his complaint, Dotson is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.
Brad L. Badgley of Belleville will be representing him.
