A Madison County woman has filed suit against the owner of a dog who she claims bit her son's leg.
Jessica Hall claims her son, Brendan Smith, was near defendant Paul L. Jones' premises at 525 Chickadee in Troy on May 4, 2008, when Jones' dog suddenly bit Smith on the leg.
Because of the incident, Smith suffered injuries to his leg, incurred medical costs, experienced great pain and suffering and sustained a permanent disability and disfigurement, according to the complaint filed April 30 in Madison County Circuit Court.
Jones breached his duty to the general public by allowing his dog, which he knew posed a danger to others, to come into contact with Smith, the suit states.
In her complaint, Hall seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.
Donald M. Flack of Flack Law Office in Wood River will be representing her.
Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-474.
