East Alton accident is subject of suit

A Wood River man claims he could not attend to his usual duties after a woman rear-ended him as he sat at a flashing red light.

Korey E. Duncan filed a lawsuit April 27 in Madison County Circuit Court against Dora Nolte.

Duncan claims he stopped his vehicle at a flashing red light located at the corner of North Shamrock and West St. Louis Avenue in East Alton on June 11, 2008, at about 10:30 p.m. when Nolte collided with the rear of his vehicle.

Because of the accident, Duncan sustained crushed and displaced neck and shoulder bones and muscles, incurred medical costs and lost large sums of money that would have accrued to him, according to the complaint.

He blames Nolte for causing the collision, saying she failed to reduce her speed to avoid a collision, failed to keep her vehicle under control, failed to keep a proper lookout to avoid an accident, failed to obey a flashing traffic light and drove without her headlights on.

In his complaint, Duncan seeks an unspecified judgment, plus costs.

Bob L. Perica of The Perica Law Firm in Wood River will be representing him.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-461.
