A man has filed suit against a driver who he says rear-ended the vehicle he was riding in with his minor daughter.
Aubrey Watkins claims he and his daughter, Jamila Watkins, were riding in a vehicle Markita Farmer was driving east on Illinois Route 13 at South 74th Street in Belleville on Nov. 24, 2008, when defendant George Komora, who was also driving east on the same road, struck the vehicle.
Because of the collision, Aubrey and Jamila Watkins sustained severe injuries that are permanently disabling and suffered intense pain and a diminished ability to participate in normal activities, according to the complaint filed Feb. 17 in St. Clair County Circuit Court. In addition, Aubrey Watkins lost wages and incurred medical expenses, the suit states.
Komora negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to yield the right-of-way and failed to move and to reduce his speed to avoid a collision, the complaint says.
In the two-count suit, Aubrey Watkins is seeking a judgment of more than $100,000, plus costs.
