Injuries claimed in Fairview Heights rear-end accident

An East St. Louis woman claims she sustained severe and permanent injuries after a Fairview Heights man rear-ended her.

Carolyn S. Martin filed a lawsuit Feb. 16 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Bradley J. Albertina.

Martin claims she became stopped in traffic while driving west on St. Clair Avenue at its intersection with Holy Cross in Fairview Heights on Feb. 24, 2008, when Albertina, who drove behind Martin, struck her vehicle.

Because of the collision, Martin suffered great pain and anguish, incurred substantial medical costs, lost wages and sustained an impaired earning capacity, according to the complaint.

Martin blames Albertina for causing the accident, saying he failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to keep his vehicle under proper control, failed to stop or swerve to avoid a collision and failed to see Martin's vehicle.

Martin seeks a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.

Ronald J. Foster Jr. of Schoen, Walton, Telken and Foster in East St. Louis will be representing her.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 10-L-73.
