A woman has filed suit against the driver who she says rear-ended her.
Maria C. Hagelstein claims she was driving east on Boul Avenue at its intersection with Illinois Route 159 in Swansea on Jan. 11 when defendant Timothy G. Mueller, who was driving in the same direction, failed to stop for a traffic control device and struck the rear of her vehicle.
Because of the accident, Hagelstein was made sick, sore, lame, disordered and disabled; received injuries to her neck, shoulder and back; incurred medical costs; suffered disability; experienced pain and suffering; and lost wages, according to the complaint filed Feb. 11 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.
Mueller negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, drove in such a manner that he struck the rear of Hagelstein's vehicle, failed to properly apply his brakes, failed to stop at a stop light and failed to reduce his speed when approaching an intersection, the suit states.
In her complaint, Hagelstein is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.
Thomas C. Rich and Jennifer L. Barbieri of Fairview Heights will be representing her.
