The mother of a minor boy has filed suit against the driver who she says struck him as he was standing on the side of the road.
Tawana Washington claims her minor son, Chrishon Riddle, was standing along the side of the road at the 1200 block of St. Stephens Road in Cahokia when defendant Terrie Harris, who was driving on the same road, struck him on June 24, 2008.
According to the complaint filed Feb. 10 in St. Clair County Circuit Court, Riddle sustained severe and permanent injuries to numerous parts of his body and suffered great pain and anguish because of the incident.
In addition, Washington incurred medical costs for her son's injuries, the complaint says.
Harris negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to keep her vehicle under control, struck Riddle, failed to stop or swerve to avoid colliding with Riddle, failed to see Riddle and failed to stop in time to avoid a collision, the suit states.
In her two-count complaint, Washington seeks a judgment of more than $100,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.
She will be represented by Ronald J. Foster Jr. of Schoen, Walton, Telken and Foster in East St. Louis.
