Rear-end accident in Wood River is subject of suit

A Wood River man has filed suit against the driver who he says rear-ended him after she failed to stop for approaching traffic.

Ronald C. Nuerenberger claims he was stopped in traffic and yielding to oncoming traffic while driving east on East Broadway in Alton on Oct. 2, 2007, at about 3:47 p.m. when Cristy L. Johnson, who was also driving east on East Broadway, struck the rear of Nuerenberger's vehicle.

Because of the accident, Nuerenberger injured his back and neck, was hindered from attending to his usual duties and affairs, incurred medical costs and lost large sums of money that would have otherwise accrued to him, according to the complaint.

Johnson negligently failed to reduce her speed to avoid an accident, failed to keep her vehicle under control and failed to keep a proper lookout, the suit states.

Nuerneberger is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.

He will be represented by Bob L. Perica of The Perica Law Firm in Wood River.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-1016.
