A man has filed suit against the driver who he says hit him as he was standing next to his parked car.
Edward L. Norvell claims he was standing beside his vehicle, which was parked on Talon Drive near its intersection with Eagle Drive in O'Fallon on March 30, 2008, when Terri L. Burroughs, who was driving east on Talon Drive, struck Norvell and his vehicle.
Because of the accident, Norvell sustained bodily injuries and incurred expenses related to property damage, according to the complaint filed Sept. 14 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.
Burroughs negligently failed to exercise due care to avoid a collision with Norvell and his vehicle, failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to stop or swerve to avoid a collision and drove in a careless manner, the suit states.
Norvell is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus costs.
Kevin J. Stine and Shannon K. Cook of Mathis, Marifian, Richter and Grandy in Belleville will be representing him.
St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-484.
