Kaskaskia Engineering says it wasn't paid for aerial photography

A Missouri company has filed suit against a St. Clair County engineering group, alleging it did not pay more than $75,000 for aerial photographs taken.

Surdex Corporation claims it made a proposal to Kaskaskia Engineering Group to provide aerial photography services for the group for $58,900.

According to the lawsuit filed Aug. 31 in St. Clair County Circuit Court, Kaskaskia Engineering Group accepted the proposal on March 20, 2008.

After an additional proposal, Surdex performed the work on July 9, 2008, for the total cost of $75,300, the suit states.

Surdex billed Kaskaskia on July 16 for work it performed, but Kaskaskia has failed to make any payments on the bill, the complaint says.

In addition, Surdex formally requested payment by Aug. 16, but still has received no money, it claims.

In addition to the money it says it is due, Surdex is seeking $18,072 for penalty clauses and interest accrued on the original bill, plus interest, attorney's fees and costs.

Bernard J. Ysursa of Cook, Ysursa, Bartholomew, Brauer and Shevlin in Belleville will be representing it.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-461.
