Route 143 accident is subject of suit

A woman and her husband have filed suit against the driver of a vehicle who the woman says rear-ended her.

Amy L. and Boyd Rinderer filed a lawsuit Aug. 19 in Madison County Circuit against Rebecca L. Griffith.

The Rinderers claim Amy Rinderer was driving south on Route 143 in Highland on Oct. 22, 2007, when Griffith plowed into the back of her vehicle.

Because of the accident, Amy Rinderer was tossed within her vehicle and sustained injuries to her head, neck and back, according to the complaint. She also suffered pain and permanent disability, the suit states.

In addition, Boyd Rinderer has lost his wife's consortium and services, the complaint says.

The Rinderers blame Griffith for failing to keep a proper lookout and for failing to stop to avoid a collision.

In the two-count suit, the Rinderers are seeking a judgment of more than $100,000, plus costs.

Rex Carr of The Rex Carr Law Firm in East St. Louis will be representing them.

Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-867.
