An Alton woman and her husband allege the woman was injured after a stool she was sitting in slipped from under her.
Ruthann and Larry Turi filed a suit Aug. 14 in Madison County Circuit Court against Dr. Tariq Quadri.
The Turis claim Ruthann Turi accompanied her elderly mother to Quadri's office on March 4, 2008.
One of Quadri's assistants directed Ruthann Turi to sit in a stool, according to the complaint. As she was sitting in the seat, the stool slid out from under Ruthann Turi's feet, the suit states.
Because of her fall, Ruthan Turi suffered permanent injuries to her neck, spine, shoulder, arm and head, suffered pain and mental anguish and incurred medical costs, the complaint says. She also claims she lost earnings.
Larry Turi says he has suffered from a loss of his wife's consortium.
The Turis blame Quadri for failing to produce a safe place to sit, for failing to warn of the slippery condition of the floor, for allowing a slippery hazard to exist and for directing Ruthann Turi to sit on an unstable piece of furniture.
In the four-count suit, the Turis are seeking a judgment of more than $200,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.
David R. Jones of the Law Office of David R. Jones in Edwardsville will be representing her.
