Trial vacated in Alton rear-end accident suit

Madison County Circuit Judge Daniel Stack vacated a trial of an Alton rear-end accident suit before it was set to begin.

The trial of Meaghan Kearby, formerly Meaghan Wade, versus Anita Walker was scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Aug. 17. Kearby is suing Walker for injuries she claims she sustained in the 2006 accident.

A case management conference is set in the case for Sept. 30 at 9 a.m.

According to her suit, Kearby was in the right turn lane on Fosterberg Road in Alton at the intersection of Illinois Route 140.

She claims Walker failed to reduce her speed, failed to keep look out and was negligent when she rear-ended her.

Kearby claims she incurred medical bills and pain from injuries to her back, neck and shoulder.

The suit seeks damages in the amount of $50,000 and costs.

Kearby is represented by Leslie Collins of East Alton.

Walker is represented by Michael Tackett of St. Louis.

The case is Madison case number 08-L-638.
