Collision caused injuries to man's teeth

A man says he received severe injuries to his teeth in a multi-car collision.

John E. Carter Jr. filed a lawsuit June 17 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Aslie E. Tew and Jason T. DeLong.

Carter says he was a passenger in a vehicle stopped at a red traffic light and facing eastbound on Frank Scott Parkway at its intersection with DePaul when the incident occurred on June 19, 2007, at about 3:30 p.m.

According to the complaint, Tew suddenly crashed into DeLong's vehicle, causing him to rear-end the vehicle in which Carter was a passenger.

In addition to his injuries, Carter says the accident caused him to suffer a lessened ability to enjoy life and to incur medical expenses.

According to the complaint, Tew failed to keep a proper lookout, drove in an uncareful and imprudent manner, failed to keep her vehicle under control, failed to keep a safe distance between her vehicle and DeLong's and drove too fast.

Carter claims DeLong drove in an uncareful and imprudent manner, failed to control his vehicle and failed to keep a safe distance between his vehicle and Carter's.

In the two-count complaint, Carter is seeking a judgment in excess of $100,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.

Bill T. Walker of Granite City will be representing him.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-324.
