Plaintiff claims he was struck by intoxicated driver

A man is suing an alleged intoxicated driver who he says failed to stop at a red light, causing him to be injured.

Nathanael Brandmeyer says he was driving a 1994 Audi 100CS on Oct. 28 when Jessica L. Trammell, who was driving a 1994 Chevrolet 1500 east at the intersection of North Belt and Highway 161 in Swansea, failed to stop at a traffic light and hit him.

Because of the collision, Brandmeyer suffered serious and permanent injuries, disability, pain, emotional distress and loss of earnings and incurred medical costs, according to the complaint filed June 17 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

At the time of the accident, Trammell had a blood alcohol content of .177, the complaint says.

Trammell failed to exercise due care, drove too fast and drove while under the influence of alcohol, the suit states.

Brandmeyer is seeking a judgment of more than $50,000, plus other relief to which he may be entitled.

Brian L. Polinske of Edwardsville will be representing him.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-321.
