The administrator of a deceased man's estate has filed suit against the Granite City woman who rear-ended him.
Gena Griggs says Kenneth Griggs was stopped at a red light in his 2003 Ford Ranger in Granite City on July 27, 2007, when Rebecca M. Lovato struck him from behind with her 2003 Dodge Neon.
Because of the collision, Kenneth Griggs was made sick, sore, lame and disordered, suffered injuries to his neck and lost wages, according to the complaint filed June 10 in Madison County Circuit Court.
Lovato failed to reduce her speed to avoid a collision, failed to obey the traffic signal, failed to brake to avoid a collision and failed to keep a proper lookout for other vehicles, the suit states.
Gena Griggs is seeking a judgment in excess of $50,000, plus costs and other relief the court deems just.
Craig J. Jensen of LakinChapman in Wood River will be representing her.
Madison County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-612.
