A Collinsville man says numerous parts of his body and nervous system were injured after a Madison County man drove into his vehicle.
Fred Wiegand filed a lawsuit May 21 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Paul Porter.
Wiegand says he was driving a 2002 Dodge Caravan south on Illinois Route 159 at its intersection with South Morrison in Collinsville on May 30, 2007 at about 7:07 a.m. when Porter, who was driving a 1999 GMC Sierra in the same direction, collided with him.
Because of the accident, Wiegand says he suffered a loss of income, permanent pain and discomfort and incurred medical expenses.
Porter failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to keep his vehicle under proper control, failed to stop or swerve to avoid a collision, drove too fast and failed to decrease his speed when approaching an intersection, according to the complaint.
Wiegand is seeking a judgment in excess of $50,000, plus costs.
Nathan C. Lanter of Nelson and Nelson in Belleville will be representing him.
St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-264.
