Schnuck's parking lot accident is subject of suit

A man says he suffered numerous injuries after the driver of a 2000 Hyundai Sonata collided with him while turning out of a parking lot.

Cory Bradshaw filed a lawsuit against Robert Hardy May 19 in St. Clair County Circuit Court.

Bradshaw says he was driving a 1999 Ford Ranger south on Illinois State Route 159 near Schnuck's Supermarket in Swansea on Jan. 8, 2007, when Hardy, who was attempting to make a left turn out of Schnuck's parking lot, collided with Bradshaw.

Because of the collision, Bradshaw incurred medical expenses and lost wages, according to the complaint. He says his total damages are in excess of $5,000, but not more than $50,000.

Hardy failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to reduce his speed to avoid a collision, failed to yield the right-of-way and failed to keep his vehicle under proper control, the suit states.

Bradshaw also is seeking costs.

P. Michael Read of the Law Office of P. Michael Read in Belleville will be representing him.

St. Clair County Circuit Court case number: 09-L-257.
