A woman claims she sustained permanent injuries to her knee after she fell at a Belleville bar.
Erica N. Hampton filed a lawsuit May 8 in St. Clair County Circuit Court against Fletcher's Kitchen and Tap.
Hampton says she was walking from the bar to the patio on May 2, 2008, when she slipped and fell on the wet floor, which had just been mopped by an employee.
In addition to her knee injury, Hampton claims she suffered pain, incurred medical costs and lost wages.
Fletcher's negligently allowed an employee to mop the floor while customers were present, knowing the area was a place where patrons walked and may not have noticed a wet floor, according to the complaint.
In addition, the employee did not place wet floor signs by the mopped area, the suit states.
Hampton is seeking a judgment in excess of $50,000, plus costs.
Chris Kolker of the Kolker Law Offices will be representing her.
