A woman is suing the two owners of her Edwardsville rental house over injuries she sustained when she fell through steps and landed in the basement.
Heather Harris says she was a tenant at 836 Morton Ave. on May 11, 2007, and was walking down the stairs to the basement when they collapsed.
Harris fell to the basement floor, sustaining permanent injuries that have affected her daily life, according to the complaint filed May 7 in Madison County Circuit Court.
Because of the fall, Harris experienced pain and suffering and incurred medical expenses, the suit states.
Palmer and Carl Jason, the owners of the house, were negligent by failing to properly maintain the basement stairs, Harris claims.
In the two-count suit, Harris is seeking a judgment in excess of $100,000, plus costs.
She is represented by William J. Meacham of Edwardsville.
